The Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (S-EBT) program provides families with eligible school-aged children $40 per month per child (up to $120 maximum) during the summer to purchase healthy foods using EBT card.

This summer, South St. Paul Public Schools is partnering with The Open Door again to serve more students free meals in our community. The Open Door picks up meals and brings them to designated spots in the community and serves kids, ages 18 and under, where they are.

Minnesota has two tax relief programs for families with children in kindergarten through 12th grade: the K-12 Education Subtraction, and the K-12 Education Credit. Both programs help lower taxes and may provide a larger refund.

The Minnesota Wild Faceoff For Fitness Program came to Kaposia for an all-school assembly focusing on physical fitness, nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.

5th grade students are honoring their friend who passed away from cancer by dedicating a new Kaposia ninja warrior course to him. They are using the Ninja Warrior equipment to give back to cancer causes and help others fighting cancer.

This year, Kaposia had two students place at state in the Dance Choreography division for the PTA Reflections Arts Contest.
Kaposia Education Center science students joined the “Save Our Monarchs School Garden Pollinator Program.” This spring students are planting milkweed and other important pollinator flowers to help the endangered Monarch butterfly.

The Science Museum of Minnesota brought the wonders of science to Kaposia 4th graders with interactive, fun engineering experiments. The students learned how engineers think as they approach problems affecting people in the world today.

Kaposia Art Teacher, Maren Daniels, noticed students struggling to identify art elements. She researched resources to make these concepts easy to understand, but couldn’t find something in simple terms for young learners. She decided to fill this gap and began writing a children’s book.

Free fresh and healthy food is coming to South St. Paul. All SSP residents are invited to The Open Door Mobile Food Pantry.
Scheduled Flexible Learning Days are days the District has determined ahead of time as a result of a preplanned circumstance. Similar to Emergency Flexible Learning Days, students will learn from home.
USDA funding for free school lunches expires for the 2022-23 school year. Families will have to complete the educational benefits application to continue receiving free or reduced school lunches for the coming school year.
