High School Students Read to Elementary Classes for Black History Month

High School students visited Kaposia and Lincoln Friday, February 17, to read stories amplifying Black voices and celebrating the impact of Black historical figures. The visits are tying together two month long celebrations in February, Black History Month and I Love to Read Month. The high school Black Pride Organization and Comunidad de Latinos Unidas students arranged the event. They are shining a light on the purpose of Black History Month, which, according to the White House website, serves as both a celebration and powerful reminder that Black history is American history, Black culture is American culture, and Black stories are essential to the ongoing story of America.
